I'm less salty about it if they consider that an abuse of terms, but when it's an amount of space that's easily in the realms of a single disk, it's way more iffy, IMO. As someone with an 80TB "disk" I get what you are saying. You don't accidentally get that- you know what you are doing. Yeah, but that's not someone that doesn't have some idea of what they are doing. To the user it's advertised as one harddrive. Reached out to their customer support five or six times and get told every time that they will have to escalate this to a customer service manager and that someone should be calling me back within 48 hours and I never receive any kind of communication from them whatsoever. I think it's kind of bullshit to advertise unlimited backup for one external hard drive but I scoured very user terms and conditions as well as all of their promotional materials and their website and nowhere does it mention that there is a glass ceiling limit on the unlimited option. The backup itself took like a month and a half but about a week or so later I got an email saying that I was abusing the unlimited storage feature and that my backup plan was being canceled and I was being refunded for the entire year.
Carbonite personal plan only allows you to back up one external hard drive So naturally I got the biggest external HD that I could and put everything onto it and backed it up. So I know that this is pretty amateur for some people here but I have a 16 TB external hard drive that I have 13 TB full. Just make sure to tag the post with the flair and give a little background info/context. On Fridays we'll allow posts that don't normally fit in the usual data-hoarding theme, including posts that would usually be removed by rule 4: “No memes or 'look at this '”
